Celebrating the Women of Havana, Cuba

As I toured the streets of Central Havana this February, I ran into hundreds of unique women, of different ages, skin tones, and social statuses. In spite of that, all of these women share a common history and heritage – they are all Cuban!

The lines on the faces of some of these women tell stories of hardship, yet their expressions reveal optimism. They hold within them a sense of pride and a unique kind of beauty. This deserves to be celebrated and honoured.

As one political era dissipates, the people and their stories live on.

I can only help but wonder how this will affect the new generation of Cuban children? Who will they become? What will they carry with them and what will they leave behind?
